‘Bringing Up Bates’: Lawson Bates Starts A War On Social Media
Bringing Up Bates star Lawson Bates is under fire for a recent social media post. The UPtv personality has shared something that many fans find to be controversial, and he’s even being accused of spreading “misinformation.” This has sparked quite a reaction from his social media followers. So, what did Lawson share online, and why are so many fans reacting this way?
What did Lawson Bates share?
In a new Facebook post, Lawson encouraged his followers to Google an important question. He asked, “Who paid the largest criminal fine in history and why?”
A quick Google search shows that the “largest criminal fine” shows Pfizer as the result. Based on his post, it seems like Lawson is urging his followers to do their research about the COVID-19 vaccine.
Additional research, however, yields a different result. GlaxoSmithKline is ranked above Pfizer in the largest pharmaceutical criminal fines. It’s also worth noting that Pfizer’s criminal fine is from 2009, so it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the COVID-19 vaccine. He later shared a follow-up post, explaining that he wants to “encourage people to study things themselves.”
Bringing Up Bates fans are upset by his new post.
Lawson doesn’t appear to be getting the response he was hoping for when sharing this post. Instead, fans are upset and are claiming that he’s spreading misinformation or trying to persuade his followers not to get vaccinated. They think he should be careful about how he uses his platform. However, Lawson argues that he wasn’t trying to convince people to get vaccinated or to not get vaccinated.
In response to one fan, Lawson writes, “Did I tell you to DO or to NOT DO anything? No, I said Google the largest criminal fine in American history. Have a blessed day.”
While some of Lawson’s followers are unhappy about his post, plenty more are agreeing with him. It’s unclear how Lawson’s post may or may not influence his followers. He does have a pretty big following with 71,000 followers on his Facebook page. His post encouraging his followers to Google the largest criminal fine has over 1,000 “likes” so far and many comments.

He is allowed to.post what he wants and we should all educate ourselves instead of running with whoever speaks the loudest. Educating yourself may mean you want to get the vaccine or it could mean you choose not to. But it is your choice and no one and I mean no one should choose for you. .my husband just passed from covid 19 2 weeks ago today. He was not vaccinated however a dear friend passed a few days before and he had both of his shots and died from exactly what happened to my husband. So yes educate yourself and decide for yourself that is the American Way.
