THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS

THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Most Fabulous Wedding Dresses

As Victoria prepared to marry Ashland on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, the soap took a look back at some past wedding moments on the soap, including the gorgeous gowns! Melody Thomas Scott began by dishing the elaborate dress Nikki wore for her first marriage to Victor, and the unique challenges it presented. “I had several fittings for it,” she revealed, “and by the time it was complete it weighed over 30 pounds. That was okay when we started in the morning, but as the day went on it got heavier and heavier and heavier…

“After eight, nine hours of shooting that, I was literally — I shouldn’t admit this — but I was so exhausted and the dress was so heavy, I was lying on the floor of the stage because I just needed five minutes to not carry it around,” she added with a laugh. ‘[The designers] were apoplectic!”

Lauralee Bell (Christine) thought her off-the-shoulder gown during her and Danny’s tropical nuptials was just perfect. “I think that was just probably to give me some ventilation in the beautiful heat of Hawaii,” she chuckled.

Christel Khalil loved that the two dresses she wore at Lily’s weddings were both custom-made. “Which was really cool just to kind of see the process of getting fitted and the silhouettes and the drawings and them actually coming to fruition.”

Sharon Case (Sharon) marveled at how the Y&R wardrobe department created the two dresses Sharon wore when she married Nick each time and how different they both were. And Tracy E. Bregman (Lauren) recalled how she had a lot of input in Lauren’s lovely wedding gown when she and Michael tied the knot but made one crucial mistake! “The one thing I forgot to do during any of the fittings was to see if I could sit down!” she laughed. “I could not sit!”

Y&R Chloe Chelsea

Mishael Morgan (Amanda) explained how back when she played Hilary, she was nine months pregnant when they shot her wedding to Devon so the wardrobe department put all the detail up around her neck to draw the eye up there. And then she laughed about how improbable it was that Hilary was able to squeeze herself into that tight dress while she lay dying in the hospital!

Like her character, Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe) is really into fashion, and she loved her retro-style dress from Chloe’s wedding to Billy, but called the lacy number she wore to marry Kevin as “something I thought that I would wear if I was getting married.”

Like many soap characters, Abby has had a couple of weddings, but Melissa Ordway declared that the dress she wore at Abby and Chase’s nuptials was “actually my favorite wedding dress that I got to wear.” Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) revealed that her favorites were the one she wore when Phyllis married Danny and and “simple and beautiful” one she wore to tie the knot with Nick. “Where are they now?” she asked with a laugh. “How come I don’t have them?”
