The Falmouth Police Department on Thursday unveiled four electric vehicle charging stations.The equipment will be used to power the department’s two electric cruisers.Officials said the goal is to reduce the department’s emissions by 50% over the next three years."An officer puts on about 100 miles a shift; this vehicle right here is rated for 240 miles, so we have all the confidence in the world that it can sustain working in Falmouth,” police Chief John Kilbride said.Kilbride added that the department currently has five hybrid cruisers that save more than 3,000 gallons of fuel and eliminates 60,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
