I feel like if The Flash was ending this season they would have already announced it. Though maybe we’ll get more info at Fandome this weekend
It needs to end. I stopped watching a long time ago. Will broadcast networks ever stop running shows into the ground? Nothing needs anything beyond six seasons.
Flash was my comic book hero. This is not a favorite.
Excellent point. TV shows should not continue past a set amount of time. I would rather have a few good seasons of good content and a wrapped up ending than having unnecessary plots drag out and actors phoning in their lines.
I couldn’t agree more.
The final seasons of Once Upon A Time and Castle were dismal.
I stopped watching Once Upon A Time after a few episodes. It was a “jumping the shark” season at best.
At the end of season seven of Castle I thought it was time to conclude it. I only watched season eight because it was one of my favourite shows. But it was almost like witnessing a car wreck week after week.
I like to binge watch TV shows. I hate it when they get a good show it goes 2 season or 1 and they cancel it. So I stopped watching TV shows. Ncis has a long run going. But look for it to end this year. Mark isn’t there the show died when he left. It is boring now. Some shows should be canceled long ago. That are till running after 21 or 22 years and SVC isn’t one of them.
Lol…. And ALL of the NCIS shows were renewed the next day…. This comment aged worse then cheap wine that was left in open air….
I disagree! NCIS is still one of the best shows! Mark leaving did not diminish the show. The new guy who took his place is awesome! Look at Law and Order SVU. It’s still my number one show!
Yes. Give me a great show lasting only a few seasons with a fantastic ending any day!
So based on your preferences for tv nobody should have fav shows run past 6 seasons?
Glad you are not in control of tv shows
Agree! Some shows are able to go way past 6 seasons.
If Greys and NCIS can last 20 years I think The Flash can have a 9th season. I do agree some things go on too long. I’m pretty sure s9 will be its last.
Some of yall complain too much if u don’t like it stop watching
I agree
Why an earth would you cancel such a Fab programme as MAGNUM P.I.
We thoughly enjoy watching it on a Sunday night.
You cancel this and keep rubbish which is sad.
I totally agree with you about Magnum. Great show and very enjoyable.
Lots of junk on TV. Cancell them !!
Yep rubbish like repeating boring nonsense like survivor and bachelor/ert shows that are nothing but the same drama just different people . But yet good plot shows get cancelled after 1 season or magnum pi which I actually preferred over the original! Gets cancelled just because. I get it people want drama but not everyone
Totally agree. I’m so angry. Don’t understand why!
I think ( my opinion) Magnum P.I. Missed the whole concept of the original show. Higgins was a man. The women playing the part is awful! She’s a terrible actress and Higgins didn’t go on cases. Glad it was canceled.
If season 9 happens I think it will be its last.
I guess I will not be watching a lot of TV next season. Magnum gone mr mayor gone legends gone just to name a few. With these cancellations there are only
11 shows left that I might watch. Abc and nbc one show each, fox and cw two shows each and five from cbs. Will not watch any first year shows.
I’m shocked that you think Grey’s is a sure thing. Given the callbacks and references to earlier seasons its definitely reaching its conclusion this year.
Agreed – I think it’s too early to tell. That said, I would hope that they would announce BEFORE the season starts that it is the final, so I could see them ending next season, but who knows.
Exactly – if it’s the last season, they need to be promoting that everywhere
The main stars only signed on for one more year, so I’m not sure why it’s a sure thing either. But hopefully they announce that soon, if it is a final season.
Well from my understanding, Shonda wants to get to season 20. To come so far and to just stop would make no sense. She wants to break that record. It will be up to the cast at the end of the day and if Ellen says thats it, then thats it. The one thing i do hope though is if/when its ending we get given so much notice. As a fan from the start, we deserve this much. If they don’t give us that, i’ll be so mad.
What record? Longest primetime tv show? Law and Order: SVU already beat that record a couple of years ago. Unless there’s another record you’re talking about?
Grey’s Anatomy has broken ER’s record for longest-running medical drama, which was on for 15 seasons. Extending its run to 20 seasons would be a feat, especially these days when the long-running shows are allowed to keep running, but other shows aren’t allowed to get to 10 years, let alone two decades.
Grey’s should have ended years ago
Amen!
That’s correct. I stopped watching Grey’s 3 years ago, same old same old.
What’s sad, is (Not a Medical Show) is that the longest TV Show on TV is a Damn Cartoon! (The Simpsons) which pays their stars over 1Mill an epi to use their voices, if you remember that big stink on their contract dispute back in the day. And Don’t forget, Show Cancellations aren’t just a whim and ratings which they let us believe, it’s also about the Stars themselves, and writers or producers or some kind of creative differences or nowadays sexual harassment.
If I remember correctly Gunsmoke was on for 24 seasons
Gunsmoke was on for 20 seasons, 1955-75.
Lasting 20 seasons is a tremendous accomplishment in this day and age but it’s not a record. L&O: SVU has already been renewed for it’s 24th season. If they are trying to outlast SVU it’s not going to happen. No way Ellen Pompeo is hanging around for 5 more years and I don’t think the show survives long without her. I have a feeling most folks are tuning in now out of habit and her leaving the show may just be the thing that finally gets them to tune out.
Milestone is a better word for that than record.
👍
Shonda once said that if Pompeo decides to stop, so does the show. This was a few years ago; I don’t know if she still holds that view.
Shonda is not even involved with Grey’s anymore becuz ABC refused to give her a raise so she left and past the show to someone else. She has a multimillion dollar deal with Netflix now
It’s says a Safe Bet, not a Sure Thing. Station 19 says Sure Thing though.
I like Station 19 and hope it stays on. The good ones they seem to take off and leave like: Big brother and the other two. They r so boring and had enough.
Season 3 of Walker? I keep hoping this show will improve. But each new episode is more insipid and ridiculous than the previous one.
so it’s not only me
LOL! I couldn’t get through the first episode. I really wanted to like this show.
Glad it’s not just me. I don’t get how this is Walker at all. Lethal Weapon made more sense. If they’d made this Walker the 90s son it would have made more sense. At this point it feels more gimmicky than anything else.
Loved Jared on Supernatural. He can’t act on Walker. His hesitation between words is hard to listen to
I like the show but I agree with your comment, it grates on my nerves because it’s every word
I have never seen Walker, I got one friend who loves it & one not so much.. And full disclaimer: I LOVED Lethal Weapon but the problem was i think i was the only one
I liked it
Personally I am really enjoying Walker. And being that it is currently the most watched live show on the CW I think TVLine is correct in calling the prospect of season 3 a sure thing.
The right doesn’t like it bc of the diversity in it. Read the reviews on IMDb, they’re hilarious. All from Trumps cult which absolutely hates everything with any kind of diversity, which is like 90% of the shows these days. The world is changing and they can’t stand it!
In what echo chamber did you hear that conspiracy theory?!
A few looneys on IMDB is hardly a causal relationship to the viewing habits of the general public
They killed the IMDB message boards. I still miss the boards, but I understand why TPTB had to end it.
That’s why I loved the big leap of all shows this one had everything including plot twists. Instead they renew the cheapest to make!
Loved the big leap and sorry it is being cancelled
You have to bring your Trump hatred into something that is not about politics? I don’t care about reviews on IMDb or any other sites.
Rob, most people – LIBERALS and CONSERVATIVES are getting sick of Hollywood REBOOTING great shows that become crappy shows.
Really? I like Walker AMD Trump. You shouldn’t be such a racist democrat. And yes the world is changing. And not in your favor.
Chuck Norris cannot even watch this amateur mess and neither can most viewers.
That’s because Chuck Norris is older than dirt.. Probably blind too.
I barely got thru the 1st season. Then the 2nd season the story line with his partner undercover was so boring that I couldn’t take it anymore and just deleted it before it was finished. I saw the episode where the actress like the show for good. Glad she left becuz her talents arevso much better than that show. And how they dressed her was so sexist and unnecessary. She probably got sick of her blood circulation being cut off in that Marshall uniform with how tight it was on her. It was so insulting.
I agree with you about Walker. I don’t think Chuck Norris could make me watch if he made 50 cameos.🤣🤣
It feels to me like NCIS is ending this season what with all the changes. Not sure people are really going to be turning in for Gary Cole and Sean Murphy. And honestly, it needs to die. Ending this season would be a dignified death. Prolonging it would just be sad.
And deep 6 NCIS-LA as well. Getty is gone, the tech twins are gone, tge 2 new cast members add little. And now we have Gerald McRanney as the gruff new leader of our little band of misfits. Deeks used to be quirky. Now he is simply annoying.
Actually, from what I’ve seen, Gary Cole is a very good replacement for Mark Harmon and people are enjoying him. The show’s ratings are still strong. It can survive without Mark Harmon.
Still the most watched T.V show in viewers; why would it end?
The ratings have been the same with Gary Cole so why would CBS cancel its highest show with the most viewers?
Gary Cole is the best. He’s brought humanity to the role. Much better than Mark Harmon.
I am realy curious to know what CBS will cancel, or move, to open time slots for new shows next fall. Everyone says almost every show on CBS its safe, but we know that they cancel at least 3 dramas every year.
They do not cancel 3 dramas every year; and since they are the #1 network why would they cancel the shows that put them there. The new show Sam will not be renewed but that is a second tier drama. after that the rest of their lineup is all winners.
I’m not sure why Stargirl season 4 could go either way – when’s the last time the CW ended a show between seasons one (such as with Katy Keene and The Republic of Sarah) and season 4 (such as with Black Lightning and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend)? I feel like the listed statuses of Charmed, In the Dark, Batwoman, Roswell NM and Nancy Drew are correct, with the season 4 ones saying “either way” and the season 3 ones saying “a safe bet”, due to this unspoken rule: Any CW series that makes it to season 2, will make it at least to season 4. Also, Stargirl is amazing and NEEDS to be renewed, and not necessarily regulated to lower-rated summer.
Also, I’m not talking reality or acquisitions, just the primary series they order from WB or CBS television studios.
I think they put Stargirl season 4 as could go either way because it is a long time away. They are currently airing Season 2, and it has already been renewed for Season 3, which will likely air sometime next summer.
You’re probably right, I just don’t think anything for season 2 or 3 has been cancelled before 4 since the Carrie Diaries from 2013/2014 seems to be the most recent (with a couple others before that, like Reaper and Life Unexpected). But since then, Beauty & the Beast, Reign, Hart of Dixie are more examples of those that made it to 4 (and of course, some others running longer).
Summer keeps the episode count low which is a positive.
At least someone who says that Grey’s next season is a safe bet ! Ratings don’t lie !
I would consider The Big Leap and Our Kind of People both to be long shots. Also, as much as I would like NCIS to be a sure thing, I think it is at best a safe bet at this point.
I’m hoping the praise behind Big Leap gives it a bit more of a shot. It’s my favorite new show so far this season. Our Kind of People has been surprisingly boring and predictable given the cast and what seemed like an interesting premise, and even benefiting from no This Is Us until midseason. Big Leap though never should have been put on against Dancing with the Stars; they should have given it a shot after Masked Singer – or at least the premiere before moving it!
Depending on how NCIS does without Mark Harmon, you might be right. Both it and NCIS: LA are very long in the tooth.
I love The Big Leap so much.
Also surprised at the confidence for LaBrea – how often do shows like that stick around
I would downgrade La Brea to “could go either way” at least until it gets to episode 6..
La Brea has been the most watched new show. It isn’t going anywhere. I haven’t seen it but it seems that people either like it or hate it.
LaBrea ratings have been pretty steady,if they get a new timeslot it could kill it though.
remember THE DOME(CBS) and other sci-fi fantasy shows like that? Just get going good and then run out of steam!
Under The Dome got 3 seasons though which was surprising. I liked it and 3 seasons was enough it didnt need to be dragged out. La Brea I don’t see it lasting long either past 2 or 3 seasons.
When you asked how often do shows like LaBrea stick around, do you mean shows that are fantasies?
Because Lost and Grimm ran for six seasons each and Once Upon a Time and Buffy for seven. The Vampire Diaries was on for eight seasons.
If that’s not what you meant, then oops, sorry!
i love The Big Leap, too! They need to give it a chance.
Give it a good time slot, and advertise it, maybe?
They hardly did anything to promote it, and I think it was a breath of fresh air.
Amen to that!
I really enjoy The Big Leap and hope there is a season 2. It is a little over the top about getting the seamier side of people’s lives on video, but that’s the fun of it. It tugs at my heart what Gabby goes through – been there and know the feelings she has – and I want to see where it takes her.
Where do we get info on streaming shows? For example Home Befofe Dark on Apple Tv+?
They have a separate page for that.. click on the “renewal scorecards” link at the top.
I thought I read last week’s ratings for The Rookie were pitiful? A safe bet???
Plus it’s been the poster child for bubble shows since it started.
The cancelation and renewal decisions made by networks are often nonsensical.
As I’ve said before, Manifest was rated 7th of 14 shows, and it was cancelled anyway.
im happy for la brea cause it seems that post lost esque show generally is looking in trouble
yeah just announce flash is ending
hopefully stargirl gets season 4
happy for legacies, superman, nancy drew and maybe for legends(im kind of ready for that to end too)
do we know the status of pandora(also on the cw)
I believe pandora got quietly cancelled (other places reported that, but never saw it here)
I believe Pandora was cancelled it was absolutely awful but I stuck with it becuz I was curious on how they would end it. CW is staying quiet about the show but it been 2 years and nothing. I can’t imagine they would bring it back as it usually aired around the same time as The Outpost which had an actual ending
is LA Brea really a safe bet? Seems like this sort of high concept thing on a network seems to be one and done more times than not.. and the first few episodes have been kinda underwhelming.
Looking at this list I was dumbfounded by how little I watch the big 4 networks anymore. What a difference a few years makes
Interesting, there are no shows on ABC, FOX, or CW that I watch.
again here ate the shows on nbc cbs fox cw and abc i watch and nbc cbs abc have to do through either nbc’s site or through directv’s site nbc the blacklist, cbs greatest at home videos abc the good doctor, the cw batwoman, stargirl, supergirl, whose line, worlds funniest animals and cbs greatest at home videos
What in the world are u trying to say? A little punctuation would be nice. That ramble made absolutely no sense at all.
Boy I was just thinking that…cannot figure that one out at all
No joke!
It’s probably an 11 yr old. They pride themselves with this style of writing. No worries. All children grow up eventually!
I see the note in the article that this list excludes unscripted series but is there a way to do a separate list for them?
Shocked that TVLine is so sure about Grey’s coming back. However if this is the last season, they need to be able to start hyping that it’s the last
Disappointed to see they don’t think there’s a chance for more CSI. I am so happy to have it back!!
Yeah I was surprised as well with the lack of confidence in CSI Vegas getting a second season. I was happy to have it back too.
I have enjoyed CSI Vegas so far. Are the ratings that bad?
CSI-Vegas is in the bottom third of CBS shows in the ratings—not terrible but a bit disappointing.
They’re not great and they dropped ìn the second week.
Go to a site called Spotted Ratings for more comprehensive ratings facts and figures
Isn’t CSI being billed as a limited series for it’s revival though?
It was originally conceived as that but I think they decided to make it an actual series. I’m not sure if Gil & Sara are sticking around or not past season 1; maybe they are, maybe it was a way to introduce us to the new crew.
I’ve enjoyed CSI so far. Hope it sticks around.
No, both characters are leaving.
Highly doubt the rookie is a safe bet
I can’t believe it’s that time again.
A Million Little Things you have as a long shot. I hope it becomes a sure thing.
.
NCIS is shown as a sure thing which surprises me, (but I hope you’re right)Hawai’i a safe bet – really? and NCIS:LA as could go either way – I’d have it as a sure thing.
.
The Big Leap is really good and Scott Foley looks like he is having the time of his life. I hope it gets moved to a different time slot so it hopefully gets more viewers.
.
I’m mostly surprised at how few of these shows I actually watch.
All the shows I watch on CW are still on. Yay!!!
•I’m sure hoping The Rookie is a safe bet.
•Is CBS trying to be ironic by remaining silent about Clarice?
•The early back-nine for NCIS: H50 does seem to indicate a likelihood of renewal.
•I just realized I don’t watch anything on FOX, but I’m hoping The Cleaning Lady is good.
•It’s a little shocking that La Brea is considered a safe bet.
•I don’t even want to try predicting what The CW will do.
TVLine covered the situation with Clarice a couple of months ago–CBS planned on moving it to Paramount + and was in negotiations with Warner Bros—but Warner Bros is going through a possible major merger and the PTB on Warner’s side practically ensured no compromise could be reached at this time.
But to have no official news about the show at this point seems a little odd
All I can say is that I do not understand the network executives. Too many shows that I really enjoyed have been cancelled – The Big Leap, Ordinary Joe, Our Kind of People. I am very leary about watching any new shows now. Why watch and become invested in them only to have them cancelled.
How is The Rookie and The Good Doctor a safe bet and The Resident Could go either way don’t get that….. at the end of this season The Resident is close to 100 episodes I don’t see FOX cancel it.
The new shows on FOX Our Kind of People and The Big Leap has horrible ratings another reason for FOX not to cancel The resident.
I don’t watch any of the 3 mentioned, but I think “The Resident” is “could go either way” depending to ratings in the wake of Emily Van Camp’s departure.
the good doctor is because unlike most fall shows which do 22 it only does 16 and it’s also fronted by david shore and the cast and crew seem to tend to know when it’s time to go out and oh the good doctor is also cheaper to produce since it shoot’s in canada
I wish CBS would move CSI Vegas to 9pm or put it on another day. Also, I heard they have not locked down William Petersen for the second season. I’m not sure if that is true. If so, that is a problem. The CSI vets are mostly what’s drawing people to the show.
CSI Vegas, we’ll have not seen it. Now there is CSI everywhere not good. You see when original came out everyone searched and watched the show anticipating a good show. To have it one even two well it took the best out of what was great viewing. NCI Hawaii another ??? do you really want to see. No.
I agree with you. William Pererson was the main reason l checked it out..l am will to watch it and see how it goes :)
Is Maer of Easton coming back for a season 2?
That is HBO aka cable.
Also: https://tvline.com/2021/06/22/mare-of-easttown-season-2-returning-hbo-renewal/
May I ask why you’re not covering cable and streaming providers?
please, please cancel NCIS Hawaii, the most boring show. Renew NCIS LA and keep Seal Team on CBS.
You know you could just not watch NCIS: Hawaii, right? I’ll never understand why people hope a show gets canceled…JUST DONT WATCH IT!
Yup I agree “just don’t watch it” personally I really like NCIS Hawaii
I tried watching first episode and was so bored I decided then it was the last time. I haven’t since. I still think it should be cancelled.
Law and Order: OC is too early to tell??? It’s been pretty consistent with SVU ratings…maybe a tenth off in the demo. I think when SVU ends, so will OC.
