Liverpool Academy graduate Missy Bo Kearns won the Standard Chartered Player of the Month award for the month of September.

Kearns had been integral in wins against Watford and Crystal Palace, with her first goal of the season coming during that away win at Vicarage Road directly from a corner kick. This is not her first POTM award and certainly not to be her last.

“I’m really pleased because when I won my first monthly award last season I said I wanted to keep winning more because it would be a sign that I was performing consistently and doing the right things. So it shows I’m doing that,” Kearns told the club website in response to her win.

“It’s also nice because so many of the girls are playing well at the minute. Different people are starting in games and training is so competitive, which people don’t see.”

The Reds now go into an international break, with Kearns herself receiving a call up to the England U23 Women alongside teammate Taylor Hinds. The Red Women will then reconvene before their next match on Halloween, October 31st, against Lewes, but Kearns has a lot to look forward to between now and then.

“It’s the first time I’ve been away with England since the U19s before the COVID lockdown so I’m really looking forward to it,” the midfielder said.

“It’s the first time I’ve worked with Mo Marley as a coach and she’s got Fara Williams as one of her assistants so I’m sure I’m going to learn a lot.”

The U23s will gather at St. George’s park on Monday for training before traveling to Belgium for their match the following week.
