NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New video shows the arrest of an NYPD officer who police said confessed to shooting two women, while friends reportedly recounted some of the behavior she exhibited in the time before the deadly incident.
The shooting happened Wednesday in the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn around 5 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they spotted Yvonne Wu, 31, in front of the 19th Avenue home and confessed to them that she “shot someone” and that the victims were inside.
Police said once they entered the home, they found a 23-year-old woman who was believed to have been in an “intimate relationship” with the cop, and a 24-year-old woman who cops said was possibly in some sort of relationship with the other victim.
Jenny Liang, 24, was found in the living room shot at least once in the chest, and was later pronounced dead, cops said. She was later identified.
Wu’s apparent ex, reportedly identified as Jenny Li by the New York Post, was shot once in the torso and suffered injuries not expected to be life-threatening, according to the NYPD.
The video, taken by a neighbor, shows the five-year NYPD veteran being searched and put into a police vehicle.
Police called the case domestic in nature, saying that all three had previously known each other. The house belonged to Li, according to cops.
Wu, who was assigned to patrol Borough Brooklyn South Precinct, was taken into custody and was brought to a hospital for an evaluation, police said.
NYPD Assistant Chief Michael Kemper said Wu was “calm, collected and very forthcoming” when officers arrived on the scene, adding that, “Simply put, she confessed.”
The officer and the surviving victim apparently dated for two years and recently broke up, according to the New York Post.
A friend said Wu “was possessive, Jenny Li just couldn’t taken it anymore … This cop is a psychopath. She was stalking her ex for a month,” according to the Daily News.
A friend added that Wu got into the house by trespassing, according to the report.
A friend of Wu and Li claimed in the report that Wu showed up at her ex’s home shortly after they broke up, and motioned to her gun when Li and the other woman came out.
