Michael B. Jordan isn’t just one of the biggest actors on the face of the planet, he’s also a soon-to-be feature filmmaker. He’s already deep into work on “Creed III,” where he serves as both star and director, and Jordan thinks that his experience working on the upcoming film, “A Journal for Jordan” was the perfect thing before he jumped into filmmaking himself.
Speaking to EW, Michael B. Jordan talked about his upcoming romantic drama, “A Journal for Jordan,” which is directed by none other than Denzel Washington. And when asked about whether or not acting for Washington before jumping into directing himself was a good thing, Jordan minced no words, giving tons of credit to the Oscar-winning Hollywood legend.

“I think just asking [Washington] a shit ton of questions, and observing how he runs a set, how he communicates with department heads, and just the process of what to look for and what to expect on a day-to-day grind,” said Jordan. “So it was definitely the right project for me to do right before [‘Creed III’], for sure.”
He continued, “Being directed by Denzel, it’s like you had a master class at everything. He shows up every day to work to give it his all. He leaves with nothing in the tank, so you’ve got to match that energy and that drive. So it definitely pushed me to do more. That was an incredible experience. Character development, breaking down characters, just getting to the micro of everything, being as specific as possible. It raised my game in a lot of ways, so I’m extremely grateful for that process.”
“A Journal for Jordan” hits select theaters on December 10 before expanding nationwide on December 22. The film is expected to be an awards contender, so definitely keep your eye on it.
