‘Bruised’ Trailer: Halle Berry Portrays MMA Fighter On Road To Redemption In Netflix Directorial Debut

'Bruised'

Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for Bruised, the first feature directed by Academy Award winner Halle Berry, which will be released in select theaters on November 17, making its way to the streamer on November 24.

In the film penned by first-time feature writer Michelle Rosenfarb, Berry stars as Jackie Justice, a mixed martial arts fighter who has left the sport in disgrace. Years later, we find her down on her luck and simmering with rage and regret, watching as she’s coaxed into a brutal underground fight by her manager and boyfriend Desi (Adan Canto) and grabs the attention of a fight league promoter (Shamier Anderson) who promises her a life back in the octagon. But the road to redemption becomes unexpectedly personal when Manny (Danny Boyd, Jr.) — the son she gave up as an infant— shows up at her doorstep, following the death of his father.

The anticipated sports drama also starring Adriane Lenox, Sheila Atim, Valentina Shevchenko, Lela Loren, Nikolai Nikolaef, and Stephen McKinley Henderson made its world premiere at the 2020 Toronto Film Festival.

Basil Iwaynk produced the pic with Brad Feinstein, Guymon Casady, Linda Gottlieb, Erica Lee, Gillian G. Hormel, Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis, and Terry Douglas.
