October 12 was a busy day for Chlöe Bailey. Not only did she attend Teen Vogue's 18th birthday party, she also performed her solo song “Have Mercy” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. And what a performance it was. Chlöe made sure to impress the audience with her powerhouse vocals and also dazzle the crowd with her outfit — or shall we say outfits.
The singer, who is also the older in the sister duo Chloe x Halle, kicked off her late-night performance with “the ‘Big Booty’ Sonata in C-sharp minor,” accompanied by a small string ensemble. Chlöe channeled Diana Ross's iconic stage style in a white, feathered gown from Bahraini fashion brand Monsoori. The gown also featured an extravagant, bubble-draped detachable skirt.
After Chlöe had finished singing the operatic version of “Have Mercy,” she did an on-stage outfit reveal, ripping off the exaggerated train to don a feather mini dress that was now more reminiscent of Donna Summer. The look was completed with white fishnet stockings adorned with crystals and silver platform heels that took center stage as Chlöe sashayed her way to her sample machine, showing that she is just as talented a producer as she is a singer.
Over the past months, the “Ungodly Hour” singer has been making a name of herself not only as a solo artist but for her fashion ensembles. As we’ve seen from the VMAs, Met Gala, and Paris Fashion Week, Chlöe has been experimenting with new silhouettes, designers, and even blonde dreadlocks. She later uploaded the performance from the show and several pictures of her two-in-one outfit to her socials, writing, “Chlöe takes New York 🌃 …skirt or no skirt?” Well, we’ll take both!
