Our first full week of October was a slow one. Officers only handled 35 calls for service. I could sure tell it too. We got caught up on criminal investigations and took care of some projects at the office.
Reported property crimes included: #1 – Tampering with a city water meter on CR 6842 #2 – Another fellow hit the CVS, he made off with about $225 worth of products. This time they didn’t get the real expensive stuff, he took some of the cheaper stuff. Maybe he got confused or there was just not enough demand for the expensive items. It does not appear it was the same person as last week. #3 – H.E.B. reported that an unknown person passed two counterfeit $100 bills. #4 – An H.E.B. employee reported that it appeared someone attempted to steal her catalytic converter, she found her vehicle partially jacked up. Someone must have interrupted our thief’s plan.
Arrests were limited as well. One trip to jail for a DWI. Our arrestee was in line at the Whataburger and bumped the vehicle in front of him. The investigating officers determined him to be intoxicated. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. A “road rage” type incident occurred near the primary school. Two adult females were cited and released for disorderly conduct – fighting in public.
Don’t forget…This Saturday, Oct. 16, is the Fall Sweep – Keep Texas Beautiful Citywide Clean-Up. Check the city website or call city hall for more information. The event is planned from 9A – 1P. So, now is your chance to help clean up our town as well as do some spring cleaning around the house. We all love options …. so, Lake Shore Estates is having their community-wide garage sale (same date and time). Maybe you prefer to add to your collection of stuff as opposed to getting rid of it. This is a great option to visit multiple garage sales in one community. The subdivision is located off FM 463 near FM 2790 N.
I had the pleasure of testifying in court last week. It was my first time visiting the Atascosa Co. Justice Center. I know it has been open for a few years, but I never made it inside before. That place is super nice. If I was running the show over there, I would reach out to the US Supreme Court about relocating down here. The parking and traffic situation is a heck of a lot better than in DC and there are a lot of good dining options in the area.
There are a couple of dates you need to put on your calendar: Saturday, Nov 6, 10 AM – Lytle Homecoming Parade. It’s a good old-fashioned small-town parade. A great way to spend the morning and you can usually score some candy as well. There is also about a 50/50 chance that if I am on my bicycle, you will catch me crash into something or at least fall off. People usually show up early to find a good spot on the route; the parade normally lasts about an hour or so. Saturday, Dec 4 will be our annual Christmas Hayride. Details are still being worked out; I will push that out when I have more information.
