July 17th 2021 is a day Vegas Golden Knights forward Nolan Patrick won't ever forget. It started with him being traded to the Nashville Predators, who then flipped him to Vegas, where Patrick would be reunited with his former junior head coach Kelly McCrimmon, who currently serves as the general manager of the Golden Knights.

"Obviously that was a really exciting day," Patrick said. "I was really pumped about that and couldn't be more happy to be here."

Patrick went on to add, "He's obviously the smartest hockey mind I've ever been around throughout my hockey career, and you can obviously tell how smart he is the way he's built this team and the success they've had. I'm obviously really happy to be playing under him and enjoyed my time with him in Brandon a lot, so I was excited when I heard the news."

The Winnipeg, Manitoba native views this opportunity with the Golden Knights as a fresh start in his career. He missed the entire 2019-20 season due to a migraine disorder, but returned to the Flyers lineup to start the 2020-21 season, playing in 52 of their 56 games.

"Obviously it was a tough year for me last year," Patrick said. "I didn't get much of an offseason with my injury. I kind of just got healthy right before camp started, and then I kind of got thrown into a weird season and didn't play great. It was tough to find my game coming off that.

He added: "But I'm really excited for the opportunity here. To be on a team that's got a chance to win right away is really exciting."

Patrick and the Golden Knights will be back in action on Thursday night for their second game of the 2021-22 season when they battle the Kings in Los Angeles.
