Platform aids in creation of safe work environments

Pittsburgh-based MSA Safety, a worker safety technology company, recently launched a connected services platform that will help safety managers create safer and more efficient work environments.

“We live in a connected world, and with this new technology platform, we’re bringing new levels of connectivity into industrial worksites,” Gustavo Lopez, MSA’s General Manager of Detection Products and Connected Services, said. “Our vision is to give safety managers the ability to create an adaptive, proactive safety program that helps reduce the risk of workplace injury and boosts productivity.”

The platform, a hardware/software combination called Connected Work Platform, features a cloud-ready wearable gas detector that enables a range of capabilities not previously available with a standalone gas detector.

The ALTAIR io 4 direct-to-cloud gas detector will be provided exclusively through the new platform. It features real-time remote monitoring and incident reporting, and GPS location to transmit real-time data directly to the MSA Grid software platform.

The platform also includes a MSA+ safety subscription extending warranty coverage and providing automatic and ongoing software upgrades.

MSA+ allows safety managers to bundle hardware and software needs.

The platform was unveiled at the National Safety Congress and Expo in Orlando, Fla. The company will begin shipping to customers during the first half of 2022.
