Man City welcome Burnley to the Etihad Stadium this weekend as the Premier League resumes after the international break.

The two sides lie at opposite ends of the table after seven games, with a winless Burnley travelling to a venue which hasn't been too kind to them over the years.

City sit two points behind Chelsea at the top of the table and Guardiola's side will be in confident mood after recent impressive displays away to fellow title challengers Liverpool and Chelsea.

Here's everything you need to know about the game.

Pep Guardiola continues to operate without last season's top goalscorer Ilkay Gundogan as the German battles a thigh problem.

Oleksandr Zinchenko also remains sidelined with a knock, and Man City will also be without Ferran Torres for a sustained period after he suffered a foot injury on international duty.

Elsewhere, Ederson and Gabriel Jesus could be in line for a rest after featuring for Brazil on international duty just under 38 hours before kick off on Saturday.

Sean Dyche could welcome summer signing Maxwel Cornet back into the fold after he limped off against Leicester with a hamstring injury last month.

However, captain Ben Mee is likely to miss the trip to Manchester with an ankle injury, while Johann Gudmundsson has an outside chance of being available. Matej Vydra, meanwhile, featured for the Czech Republic on international duty after being taken off against Norwich.

Burnley supporters wince when reminded of their recent record against Man City, having conceded 27 goals in their last six trips to the Etihad Stadium.

Dyche's men have shipped five without reply in their previous four visits to the blue half of Manchester, with last season's 5-0 away defeat proving the catalyst for City's title charge.

All in all, the Clarets have lost their last eight meetings against City, although they did claim a 1-1 draw with Guardiola's side as the Citizens marched towards the Premier League title in 2017/18.

Man City have an embarassment of riches, to the extent that Guardiola can afford to have one eye on their midweek Champions League clash with Club Brugge, while still fielding a team strong enough to dispose of Burnley with ease.

The Clarets' recent record at the Etihad Stadium could be packaged and sold as a horror movie, and their early form this season has done little to dispel the assumption that the Burnley faithful are in for a difficult season.

Expect Man City to make a few changes, with several players looking to fill their pockets against a vulnerable Burnley outfit at home.

Prediction: Man City 4-0 Burnley
