SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Law enforcement chiefs from across the country are meeting to call for more government investment in child care.
The chiefs are looking into the link between preschool and juvenile crime reduction.
The discussion is organized by the non-profit "Fight Crime: Invest in Kids."
They will be hearing from a group of law enforcement, prosecutors and violence survivors who all support preschool as a way of giving kids a "crime-free life."
The full discussion can be found below:
The group says decades of research show that high-quality early childhood education can be one of the strongest tools in long-term crime prevention.
They argue that if kids have better access to preschool programs crime rates in juveniles should eventually go down.
The virtual meeting is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
