Letter: In support of Dr. Sim Covington Jr.

I am writing in support of Dr. Sim Covington Jr. in support of his election for City Council, because he has great experience and some unique skills that we need on the council. I have known Dr. Covington for five years.  

Dr. Covington’s personal attributes and his stand on issues make him an ideal candidate. Dr. Covington will bring fresh perspectives while maintaining a deep respect for the culture, traditions and history of this city. I have personally observed Dr. Covington successfully manage many challenges at FLCC by listening and respecting others’ position and experiences. He does this by earning trust and respect.  

With regard to Dr. Covington’s stand on issues, there is none more critical than his stand on pesticides and the health of our lake. The lake is a big part of our identity and drives our local commerce. Dr. Covington understands that a healthy environment will enhance both our personal well-being and our collective economy. He is willing to stand up for challenging issues like the ban on pesticide use on city property and working together with dedicated organizations such as the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Association. 

I hope that you will join me in voting for Dr. Sim Covington Jr. on Nov. 2 to ensure that our community has experienced and thoughtful leadership that we need on our City Council.
