The pop stars of tomorrow — and today — are coming to Toms River.

Hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd and pop-punk social media star Jxdn will headline PopCon 2022, April 30 and May 1, 2022, at the Toms River High School North Campus, including the RWJBarnabas Health Arena.

The full line-up announcement of more than 20 acts is coming soon. The event also will include meet and greets, parties, panels, fan activations, merchandise and more. Tickets, $139.99 to $499.99, go on sale starting Friday, Oct. 15, via www.thepopconx.com.

“I'm excited for the relaunch of the PopCon brand,” said festival founder John D'Esposito. “We're looking forward to hosting an event that will unite artists and fans as we move into a new world. We hope it creates memories for the artists, the fans, and everyone involved.”

The last PopCon was staged in 2010 at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island and included performances by Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez early in their careers.

“We're going to have girls from 14 to 20 crying their eyes out,” said D'Esposito of the upcoming PopCon. “The arena is going to be deafening in there. The excitement has been pent up so long for these kids. This will be their first pop festival back.”

Rae Sremmurd has had multiple hits, including “No Flex Zone,” “No Type” and “Black Beatles.” Member Swae Lee is a breakout star. Jxdn, pronounced Jaden, is part of a new wave of emo musicians. His debut single, “Angels & Demons,” is a Top-10 hit.

D'Esposito of Laurence Harbor reobtained the rights to the PopCon, the Bamboozle and the Saints and Sinners festivals from earlier this year when Live Nation abandoned the trademark, he said. Live Nation previously did not reply to a request for comment on the festivals.

He's staging the Bamboozle on May 5 to 7, 2023, for a 20-year anniversary celebration at a location to be announced in New Jersey.
