Hocus Pocus 2 is only a year away from release, and frankly we couldn't be more excited to see the return of the Sanderson sisters.

Of course, we know that Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy are all coming back to the franchise for the Disney+ sequel, though another original star is less sure about her future in the franchise.

Vinessa Shaw famously played the role of Allison, Max Dennison's (Omri Katz) crush and school classmate in the 1993 movie, though the star has admitted in a new interview that she hasn't heard anything about the sequel relating to her.

"I would love to know more about it," the actress told ComicBook.com. "I haven't heard anything. So it may be just that it's way [early] in pre-production or it's maybe something entirely different than the original. I haven't heard anything, sadly. Sorry."

Further reflecting on the success of the original, Shaw added: "That movie just, it blew my mind to be able to do that movie as a young child growing up on Disney movies. It just was an amazing second film to have done.

"It brought me to basically love filmmaking because, up to that point, I hadn't really done anything that big. I mean, Ladybugs was pretty big for me to begin with, but three months on the set working on this movie, it just rocked my world.

"So to be able to, again, have everyone love it... So I hope the second one is just as cool."

The plot synopsis for the sequel reads: "Three young women accidentally bring the Sanderson Sisters back to modern-day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on the world."

While further casting details are under wraps at the moment, we do know that Hocus Pocus 2 will be directed by 27 Dresses' Anne Fletcher, who takes over from Hairspray's Adam Shankman due to scheduling conflicts.

"Now more than ever, people need to laugh. We should be laughing every day, and there is so much fun to be had with these three unbelievable women playing delicious characters from such a beloved film," she said earlier this year.

"I am so grateful to be able to play a part in bringing these witches back to life, and to be working with my friends at Disney again makes it all the more special.

"This is a movie for everyone, from the fans who grew up with the first film to the next generation of viewers, and I can't wait to get started."

Hocus Pocus 2 will be releasing on Disney+ in the autumn of 2022. The original movie is available to stream right now on the service.
