Van Riemsdyk registered a short-handed assist and four PIM while logging 17:25 of ice time during Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Rangers.
Van Riemsdyk was expected to get more regular playing time following the offseason departures of Brenden Dillon and Zdeno Chara and provided early dividends with the shorthanded helper. The 30-year-old posted three points in 20 games during the 2020-21 season.
