Coronation Street's Sam Aston expecting second child with wife

Coronation Street star Sam Aston has announced he's expecting his second child with wife Briony Gardner.

Sam made the autumnal announcement on Instagram on October 13, sharing a photo of his 14-month-old son Sonny with four pumpkins, two larger and two smaller ones.

Sonny was holding up a sign which read: "We're adding another pumpkin to our patch! Due Spring 2022."

Briony shared the same adorable snap to her own Instagram account, posting it with a sparkle emoji in the caption.

Sam's big announcement comes after he hinted in August that he'd "be open" to joining the cast of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! after revealing he's previously turned down the chance to take part on the ITV show.

Sam told OK! at the time: "I've always said no to all of those shows, but then recently for some reason I've been more open to the idea. Jennie [McAlpine] and Andy [Whyment] did the jungle and both of them said it's the experience of a lifetime.

"If I was offered it I would be open to the idea and open to the extra pennies!"

Sam went on to add that he doesn't like the idea of being so far away from his family.

"The idea of going to Australia and not having any contact whatsoever with my family makes me quite uncomfortable," he added. "It probably sounds quite soft as a lot of people work away, but I've never had to."

But, luckily for Sam, ITV has confirmed that this year's I'm A Celebrity will once again be coming from Gwrych Castle in Abergele Ant & Dec back as hosts. We'll have to wait and see if we see him there!

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
