‘General Hospital’: Kelly Monaco Addresses Instagram Absence, Says Platform is Full of “Rude” “Bullies”

Kelly Monaco (Sam McCall, "General Hospital") reveals why she's been absent from Instagram lately, and it isn't because she's too busy playing our favorite private eye.

On Tuesday, October 5, “General Hospital” actress Kelly Monaco (Sam McCall) posted on Instagram for the first time since April 2020, saying simply, “Is it Friday yet?!” The post included a picture of Monaco wearing denim “overalls with deep red lipstick on her lips.

In a follow up comment to the post, Monaco cleared up why there had been such a wide gap between her posting on the social media platform and it wasn’t simply because she was busy playing a private eye in Port Charles.

“I dip out on Instagram because people are rude, bullies and feel the need to put people down. It’s gotten way out of control,” Moncao said of the platform’s userbase. Her comment received 240 likes. Overall, however, Monaco’s post received over 19,600 likes since it was published last week.

Earlier this month, Monaco posted on Twitter for the first time since March in honor of her 18 year anniversary on “GH” playing Sam McCall, saying to the fans on Friday, October 1, “I am feeling the love today. It’s been quite a journey over the past 22 years with ABC. I am honored to be part of ‘General Hospital’ for the past 18 years. Words can’t describe how lucky I feel. I can’t thank y’all enough for the outpouring of support.” She ended her post using the smiling face with three hearts emoji, the party popper emoji, the confetti ball emoji, and the balloon emoji.

Monaco first joined the ABC family in July 2000 playing Livvie Locke on “Port Charles.” She later portrayed Livvie’s magical twin sister, Tess Ramsey. Shortly after the show’s cancellation she was cast as Sam on “GH.” She first aired on the soap on October 1, 2003.
