NCIS: Los Angeles and GLOW actor Ravil Isyanov died of cancer on Sept. 29. He was 59.

Isyanov’s death was confirmed to Variety by his agent, Tanya Kleckner.

“He was a true gentleman and worked up until [his] passing. I’ve worked with him for 20 years and we became firm friends,” Kleckner said. “He will be sorely missed. We are all heartbroken by this tragic loss, a beautiful soul gone way too soon.”

The Russian-born actor trained at the Moscow Art Theater School before moving to Los Angeles to pursue film and TV acting in 1998. Since then, he consistently appeared in Hollywood projects for over 20 years. Isyanov is arguably best-known for playing mobster Anatoli Kirkin in NCIS: Los Angeles, and had a memorable recent role on Netflix’s GLOW, playing motel owner Gregory.

The actor made guest appearances in numerous TV shows as well, including The Americans, The Last Ship, Bones, Fringe, Alias, and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. His film credits included Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Goldeneye, K-19: The Windowmaker, Holes, and Along Came a Spider. By the time of his death, Isyanov had accumulated over 70 acting credits.

Isyanov’s finale roles will be in the upcoming Elsie Fisher-led film 25 Cents Per Minute, as well as the Netflix Marily Monroe biopic Blonde (in which he played film director Billy Wilder).
