The Mansfield district has new security procedures in place, eight days after the Timberview High School shooting.
Last night, Superintendent Kimberley Cantu distributed information saying from here on extra police officers will be on district campuses. Mansfield district police will be supplemented by neighboring police departments.
Also, using metal detector wands, there will be random classroom checks in the high schools to look for weapons. Plus, staffers trained in safety and security protocols will use surveillance cameras to monitor common areas and hallways.
Superintendent Kimberley Cantu sent a letter to parents last night detailing the new security protocols that come just over a week after a shooting that left 4 people hurt including a 15 year old student who was shot 4 times. That teen remains in the hospital.
