Brendan Rodgers enjoyed a very successful spell at Celtic. And it was under him that the Hoops were transformed into the serial Treble winners who would go on to completely dominate Scottish football for the next four years.

Looking from the outside, his record as the Celtic manager is absolutely phenomenal. But for all of his achievements, he is not remembered very fondly at Celtic by a lot of the club’s fans. And that is because of the manner of his departure.

Rodgers would leave Celtic in the middle of the season to join Leicester City. And now, he is being linked with the managerial role at Newcastle United after the Magpies’ massive takeover, which is expected to shake up the English footballing scene.

But as reported by the Daily Mail, Rodgers will resist interest from Newcastle United as he is in the frame to replace Pep Guardiola as the manager at Manchester City in 18 months’ time.

The former Celtic manager is going to resist any interest from Newcastle United

It is hard to deny that Rodgers has done a terrific job since joining Leicester City as manager. The club competed for a top four spot in both of his two full seasons with The Foxes till now.

On top of that, they have won the FA Cup and the Community Shield. Thus, there is no doubt about the fact that Rodgers is one of the top managers in all of Europe right now. Not only is he being linked with Manchester City but he has been linked with FC Barcelona in the recent past as well.

On the other hand, it will be very interesting to see how things turn out for Newcastle United over the coming years. They could very well enjoy a rise similar to what Manchester City did over a decade ago. Also, what effect could the rise of Newcastle United have on Celtic moving forward?
