CBS Sports grades Ravens' Week 5 win over Colts

The Baltimore Ravens pulled out an incredible 31-25 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5 of the 2021 season. It was a sloppy showing for the Ravens over the first three quarters, but the team rallied in the fourth quarter and subsequent overtime period to produce yet another instant classic game that will be remembered in Baltimore forever.

John Breech of CBS Sports graded each team’s Week 5 performance, and gave the Ravens a “B” for their victory on Monday Night Football. When explaining his decision, Breech mentioned the fact that while the Baltimore offense was “completely non-existent” in the first half, quarterback Lamar Jackson, tight end Mark Andrews and defensive lineman Calais Campbell stole the show in the second half.

“The Ravens’ offense was completely nonexistent in the first half, but then Lamar Jackson brought them back to life in the second half and in a twist, he did it with his arm. Jackson threw for a career-high 442 yards and four touchdowns as the Ravens mounted a comeback from a 22-3 deficit to win. The 19-point comeback is tied for the third biggest in franchise history. Jackson was clutch, with the final two scores coming in the final two minutes and overtime. Mark Andrews also came up clutch with 11 catches for 147 yards while also adding two touchdowns and two two-point conversions. The Ravens’ comeback wouldn’t have been possible without a huge performance from Calais Campbell, who blocked a field goal attempt with four minutes left that likely would have iced the game for the Colts. The Ravens’ streak of 43 straight games with 100 yards rushing came to an end, but there’s a good chance no one in Baltimore cares about that after this win.”

Breech says that Jackson willing the Ravens to victory with his arm in come-from-behind fashion was “a twist”, but the fourth-year quarterback has done it multiple times already throughout his young career. While Baltimore’s Week 5 win wasn’t pretty, Jackson’s end-of-game performance was beautiful, and hopefully he will be able to build on it in Week 6 against a very good Los Angeles Chargers team.
