Baxter State Park visitors urged to use caution

If you're looking to do a little leaf-peeping at Baxter State Park, officials are warning you to be especially careful.

The park's director, Eben Sypitkowski, says the number of hiking rescues was below average at the beginning of the season but has since picked up.
Before you hit the trail, it's important to follow park rules like carrying a flashlight at all times.
"A lot of folks come down in the dark. Don't intend to when they start their hike, but they certainly do, but the most important piece is to remember that the objective of your hike is not the summit of the mountain, you still have to get back down,” said Sypitkowski.
