After making his senior debut for Liverpool last month, young right back Conor Bradley made his first start for Northern Ireland as they went down 2-1 to Bulgaria in Sofia.

The 18 year old who is tipped for good things put in a very good performance for 67 minutes before making way for Leeds United's Stuart Dallas.

Praise From Baraclough

Northern Ireland manager Ian Baraclough was disappointed with his team's second half performance but delighted with the contribution of the Liverpool academy player.

“He can be proud of tonight,”

“Starting the game, he’s dealt with that again as he has everything put in front of him, he’s dealt with it with maturity beyond his years."

“We’re pleased with how he’s maturing and we’ve just got to make sure that continues."

Substitution Didn't Reflect His Contribution

Baraclough was keen to point out that Bradley was not taken off as a result of his performance but for tactical reasons.

“I didn’t bring him off because he was dropping in his play."

"I felt Paddy might just have given us a bit more with his experience and Stuart Dallas, we knew we couldn’t play him for much more than half an hour so it was about trying to put that experience in there.”

LFCTR Verdict

It has been a very good last few weeks for Conor Bradley making both his first start for Liverpool and the national team.

Going forward, it will be very interesting to see how he progresses but there is every chance that he could displace both James Milner and Neco Williams as the long term understudy to Trent Alexander-Arnold.
