Film workers strike will impact movie projects in Georgia

Crews want more money, better working conditions

A strike here in Georgia and across the country will happen on Monday, October 18, at 12:01 a.m. if an agreement is not reached between the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

The pending strike by the union’s sixty-thousand members threatens to jeopardize productions nationwide. The unions want higher minimum rates for low-paid workers and higher streaming residuals. They also want better working hours, like a ten-hour turnaround between shifts for all workers.

Here in Georgia, local unions are located in Athens, Atlanta, Augusta, and Savannah.
