Due to Holly Holm’s recent injury, UFC Vegas 40 is now headlined by Aspen Ladd vs Norma Dumont. Much like last week’s event, headlined by Mackenzie Dern vs. Marina Rodriguez, this card’s depth has been heavily criticized. That being said, here are some UFC Vegas 40 betting tips to add some spice to the night and help you win big this weekend.

UFC Vegas 40 Betting Tips

Aspen Ladd to win outright (-135)

Aspen Ladd (9-1) is stepping in on short notice for Holly Holm at 145lbs. The featherweight limit was a must for Ladd, after a scary weight miss at 135lbs on Oct. 1. The young fighter faces off against a fellow rising contender in the division, Norma Dumont (6-1).

Dumont comes into this contest as a narrow underdog with a very impressive record. However, when dissecting her UFC tenure, the numbers appear to be deceiving.  Despite being a large underdog in her victory against Ashlee Evans-Smith, her opponent had lost four of her last five fights, so the win is not that impressive a scalp. Combine this with a KO loss to Megan Anderson and lackluster performances against Felicia Spencer and Mariana Morais, Dumont’s resume is fairly underwhelming.

Coming in as a last-minute replacement after a brutal weight cut, there will certainly be questions over Ladd’s conditioning for this contest, especially for five rounds. However, it is important to remember that Dumont has also had weight-cutting issues in the past and, therefore, fighting at 145lbs will allow both women to perform to the best of their abilities. Ladd has genuine KO power for the division, with six of her nine victories coming by way of knockout. She has also demonstrated her ability to come through deep waters against Yana Kunitskaya, a good sign in a fight that could last 25 minutes.

The fight should be relatively competitive on the feet, but as Ladd mixes in takedowns, she should be able to find a sizeable advantage. Although Ladd will have to overcome injuries and a myriad of physical issues, she should have the tools to win her first fight since 2019.

Danaa Batgerel to win by decision (+170)

Brandon Davis (14-8) makes his second UFC debut against Danaa Batgerel (9-2) in a bantamweight contest. Batgerel opens as a sizeable -190 favourite, but with some clever betting, he carries an excellent value.

Davis has fought some of the best fighters in the featherweight division, including Zabit Magomedsharipov and Giga Chikadze. He comes into this contest riding a four-fight win streak and a renewed set of optimism for his UFC career. Davis has never been knocked out in his career and will be tough to finish, however, there are plenty of signs that Batgerel should be able to find victory in this matchup.

Batgerel has looked great so far in the UFC, with a fight of the night against Heili Alateng and two straight KO victories over Guido Cannetti and Kevin Natividad. “Storm” has made his name as a top striker, but has a very underrated wrestling base. It would seem that he has a technical advantage wherever the fight goes and as long as he remains patient he should find victory against the tough Davis. Davis has good cardio and will look to weather the storm early to find opportunities late in the fight, but it is unlikely that he shall be given this opportunity by his opponent.

The victor will very likely be Batgerel and given Davis’ durability betting on Batgerel to win by decision is an excellent choice for any UFC Vegas 40 betting tips.
