Boy hospitalized after bike collides with car

A local boy was injured Wednesday afternoon after his bicycle collided with a vehicle on Academy Drive.

It happened a few minutes before 5:30, with a Hopkinsville police report saying 10-year old Ved Patel of Hopkinsville was riding bicycles with a friend and said he didn’t see an oncoming vehicle as he turned out of a parking lot onto Academy.

He collided with the side of a car driven by 54-year old Melissa Johnson of Hopkinsville and police say Patel was bleeding from the chin and lip and was taken by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
