This year marked the 30th anniversary of Mazda winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the rotary-powered 787B. To celebrate the occasion, MZ Racing is offering a detailed 1:6 scale model of the four-rotor R26B engine in race specification that’s selling for ¥179,300 yen ($1,579).

The company produced a similar scale model back in 2018 in a limited number of 100 units. The new one also gets the exhaust manifold and muffler and it is not limited. As with the previous iteration, the hand-built 1:6 scale model was created with the help of Kusaka Engineering and Mazda based on 3D scanning of the actual spare motor.

While the model doesn’t have any moving parts, the level of detail is amazing. All four rotors connected by the eccentric shaft are fixed in their correct position related to that of the first one. The rotor housing has the intake peripheral port of the race specification and replicates the subtle difference between the manifold and combustion chamber sides.

Together with the carbon-style pedestal and the acrylic case, the model is 400 mm (15.7 inches) long, 230 mm (9.1 inches) wide, and 140 mm (5.5 inches) tall, weighing around 3 kg (6.6 pounds). It is made from resin and white metal, with rubber used for the sparkplug wires and belt.

The scale model comes with a 30th-anniversary etiquette, a 787B spec plate, a R26B spec panel, a display stand and a plaque with a message from Takayoshi Ohashi who was the team’s director and oversaw Mazda’s Le Mans program for two decades.

If you want to buy your own hand-built scale model of the R26B engine, MZ Racing will be accepting orders through its online store until December 10. The first units will be shipped from Japan in November.
