English Dub Review: The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent “Diary”

Overview

Sei travels to Klausner’s Domain. When she’s introduced to a masterful alchemist, where Sei herself learns new things about potion-making and her own powers…

Our Take

The more Sei learns about important pharmacists, the more she can understand her own role in the show. Even after Sei shows up at the alchemist’s holy land, she still ends up making more goddamn potions. But at least these herbs are becoming beneficial for everything from potions to food, Sei finds the regularities with the modern-day use back in her old world. It seems her love for potions is similar to Drewes’ obsession with magic and so her meeting the best alchemist was to be expected.

For better or for worse, Sei’s previous actions in the kingdom when she healed the wounded soldiers from monster attacks, are replicated here in Klausner’s Domain. Given that her golden Healing magic activates because of someone close to her that’s in trouble, Albert’s condition was far worse than the previous battle with monsters in the woods, and lo and behold, everything checks out.

Overall this was a passable episode. The secret to the saint’s power is revealed to be something beyond blatant, but it works as a really nice way to tie Sei’s awakening powers into her ever-developing feelings for Hawke. However, I’m with so many questions about what goes on regarding the saint process. For starters, Sei is treated as a high noble everywhere she goes yet there’s also no mention of what happens to the “Saint” once their job is complete. Do they sacrifice themselves to do the task? Do they get transported back home? What happened to previous saints and how often do they get summoned? With Two episodes left, hopefully, we’ll have these questions answered at some point…
