Body of missing Wayne County man found in wooded area in Ontario County, troopers say

Clifton Springs, N.Y. — A Wayne County man missing since Sept. 30 was found dead Monday in a wooded area in Ontario County, state troopers said.

Roy “RJ” Vandemortel, 30, of Newark, was last seen at the Tops Plaza in Clifton Springs, according to a news release issued by New York State Police.

He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, a blue Puma zip-up hoodie, black jeans and grey sneakers, troopers said.

Vandemortel’s body was found Monday by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, troopers said. The investigation into his death is ongoing, they said.

Police ask anyone with information to contact the state police in Canandaigua at 585-398-4100.
