SAPD was dispatched on August 13 at around 3:20 p.m. to a convenience store at Lakewood Drive and South WW White Road for a report of an armed man on a bike who had threatened to shoot a group of people.
The officer who arrive at the scene followed him for a while, then tried to talk to him. The suspect, later identified as Steven Primm, ran from the officer.
When more officers arrived, the suspect jumped on a bike and shot one officer while trying to flee through a field.
The officer returned fire and struck Primm. Primm continued running before an officer found him behind a building in an open field.
Primm emerged from behind the building and the officer shot him once, believing Primm was armed. Primm’s firearm was recovered on the roof of a nearby home.
As with all officer involved shootings, the District Attorney’s Office is investigating the incident.
