According to a report from Hoops Rumors reporter JD Shaw, John Petty, Jr., has signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the New Orleans Pelicans. The Pelicans later confirmed the signing.

Exhibit 10 contracts are one-year deals worth the minimum salary that assist NBA franchises in transitioning from the preseason to the regular season. Typically, players that sign Exhibit 10 contracts are waived before the season and given a chance in the G League. The contract can include an optional bonus ranging from $5K to $50K, though the terms of the deal aren't necessarily protected unless the player sticks with the G League team for 60 days.

The terms of Petty's deal have not been disclosed.

As such, Petty won't necessarily be reunited with his former Crimson Tide teammates, Herb Jones and Kira Lewis. Petty is most likely headed to Birmingham to play for the Pelicans' G League team, the Squadron.

Petty spent the Summer with the Detroit Pistons after going undrafted in July.
