Youngkin hosts Law Enforcement Appreciation Rally in Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia’s Republican nominee for governor, Glenn Youngkin, honored National Police Week by holding a Law Enforcement Appreciation Rally in Lynchburg on Wednesday.

At the rally, Youngkin spoke about several key issues, including education, law enforcement, efforts to “establish community safety,” and his Day One Game Plan.

Youngkin says he wants to protect qualified immunity, invest in the mental health system, and raise wages for law enforcement.

According to Youngkin, law enforcement is a top priority, so he hopes to bring more people into law enforcement to make sure Virginia has fully-staffed and fully-trained agencies across the Commonwealth.

In addition, the Republican candidate says he wants to see communities come together by implementing and supporting programs like Operation Ceasefire.

During the rally on Wednesday, Oct. 13, Youngkin also commented on education, saying he wants parents to have more of a role in their children’s education.

Youngkin also addressed cutting costs of living, eliminating the grocery tax, and suspending the gas tax increase until after the pandemic has ended.
