One arrest has been arrested after a fire erupted at a container yard in Wilmington, officials said.
The blaze was reported about 2:40 p.m. along the 1400 block of Alameda Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
There were initial reports of loud sounds heard nearby, which prompted a response from the hazardous materials team. The noises, however, turned out to be tires that were exploding, officials said.
“Welding materials were found on scene, but all canisters were intact and did not contribute to the fire,” the Fire Department said in an updated alert.
A railway in the area was also closed through the Alameda Corridor during the firefight.
No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported, officials said.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation but is being investigated as arson, fire officials said.
The suspect was identified as 53-year-old Mark Munoz, and he was arrested and booked on suspicion of arson of property, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. His bail was set at $50,000.
