MORRIS — A new community COVID-19 testing site will open in Morris next week.
The state of Minnesota announced the site Tuesday.
The site will be at the Morris Armory , 722 Iowa Ave. Starting Tuesday, Oct. 19, it will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the capacity to conduct 500 tests per day.
Demand for COVID-19 testing has increased recently, and the state has been expanding its testing capacity.

The state has 14 community testing sites. Testing is open to Minnesotans who believe they need a COVID-19 test, with or without insurance. Testing is free at all of the state’s testing sites.
Participants who have health insurance will be asked for their insurance information so the state can bill their insurance company on their behalf. If a person is uninsured or if insurance does not cover the entire cost, the state will cover the difference.
Walk-ins are welcome at the state’s 14 testing sites, but the state recommends making an appointment online to avoid lines.
Those who arrive for a test should avoid eating, drinking, chewing or smoking anything for at least 30 minutes before being tested. At the testing location, they will self-administer the test by salivating into a funnel attached to a small tube. Staff will be available on site to monitor the collection process.
