Previously announced contestant Noah Sims will not be present for “MasterChef Live!” on Nov. 10 at The Palace Theatre in Greensburg.

Update: The “MasterChef Live!” tour announced on Oct. 14 that, because of a scheduling conflict, Noah Sims will not be present for the Nov. 10 performance at The Palace Theatre. Other former “MasterChef and “MasterChef Junior” contestants will be featured.

Front-row audience members, you’ve been warned.

“Big, bold, beautiful flavors are gonna be flying off the stage” when “MasterChef Live!” comes to The Palace Theatre.

That’s the word from Noah Sims, a Season 10 contestant on the Fox show who will be part of the cooking extravaganza visiting Greensburg at 7 p.m. Nov. 10.

The family-friendly show will feature past “MasterChef” and “MasterChef Junior” contestants pitted in head-to-head cooking demonstrations and challenges.

It’s the first time on the tour for Sims, a resident of Epworth, Ga., who calls himself a “glorified line cook.”

Sims placed fourth in his season on “MasterChef,” which aired in the summer of 2019.

According to MasterChef Wiki, he “came in strong from the get-go, quickly claiming himself to be an ‘alpha male’ … he could be abrasive, bossy and controlling at times, as there were moments of rudeness from his authoritarian style of leadership and from his short-tempered behavior in team challenges. Nevertheless, he was encouraging and affectionate, as he would be the first to support his fellow contestants.”

“The best part of the show was all the friends I made,” he told the Tribune-Review. “The Master Buds, that’s what we call them, are all guys from my season, and they’re the best group of friends I could have.”

He tried out for the show in the first place as a challenge from a friend.

“My buddy called me out and said, ‘You don’t wanna be a punk. You need to do this if you’re as good as you think you are,’” he said.

Vegan foods

Since “MasterChef,” he said, he’s been on the road cooking at fundraisers for charities such as the American Heart Association, Habitat for Humanity, World Central Kitchen and others.

Although his background is mostly in Southern American cooking and grilling, he’s lately been exploring vegetarian and vegan dishes.

He said he feels better physically, mentally and emotionally when not eating meat.

“I’m eating about 85 to 90% vegan or plant-based food right now,” he said. “My anxiety goes through the floor when I don’t eat animal protein.”

He said he’s developed “a full-blown vegan appetizer” for “MasterChef Live!”

The change in diet hasn’t blunted his competitive edge, though, and he promises the audience at The Palace will see that.

“I’m in it to win it, and I wanna sell this theater out,” he said.

Tickets are $26-$48. A $125 VIP experience also is available, offering premium seats, a signed show poster and a cast meet-and-greet with photo opportunity one hour before showtime.

The meet-and-greet is subject to change because of CDC protocols that might be in place on the show date.

Tickets for the original show date, and two previously rescheduled dates, will be honored Nov. 10. Ticket-holders who have ave a conflict with the rescheduled date can find out about ticketing options at 724-836-8000 or by emailing boxoffice@wctrust.net.
