Epic Confirms Among Us Inspiration and Announces Collaboration

The dispute between InnerSloth - creators of Among Us - and Epic Games has come to an end. The creators of Fortnite proposed a cooperation between the two companies and officially admitted what they were inspired by while designing the Impostors mode.

In August, the Impostors mode, heavily inspired by gameplay from Among Us, appeared in Fortnite. As it turned out, despite the huge similarities to the game by InnerSloth, Epic Games (creators of Fortnite) did not approach them about official cooperation or in any way admit to being inspired by their work, which, according to some, verges on plagiarism. However, today the matter was finally rectified on Twitter:

That's not all. Epic Games has indicated the inspiration by Among Us also in description of the latest update to Fortnite(version 18.20):

"v18.20 brings improvements to Impostors, the game mode inspired by Among Us from Innersloth!"

Interestingly, Epic has been accused of intellectual property theft before - such as with a 2018 lawsuit where Alfonso Ribeiro claimed that the company used the iconic dance of a character he played in The Fresh Brince of Bel-Air without his permission , to create the emote "Fresh" in Fortnite.

And what does the update itself bring? The discussed Impostors mode received a voice chat and a preference function, enabling us to choose whether you prefer to play as Impostors or Agents. In Battle Royale, another vote has begun on new weapons - you can choose between an assault rifle and a submachine gun.

From now on, repetitive joint tasks will provide more EXP. In the North America East region, the option "Stay with Squad" has been introduced when assembling your squad to play the next match with the same team (the rest of the world will have to wait a bit). What's more, Epic Games plans to start refreshing the refund request after a year. This means that if you use a refund token (which enables you to get money back for an in-app purchase), you'll get it back 365 days later. Of course, there will also be tons of new skins.
