Tammy Nicholson, director of the DOT's Modal Transportation Bureau, says a company called Wabash Cannonball LLC wants to build a rail connection from the Union Pacific mainline to the new plant in Clinton.
Called the Clinton Connecting Track, it will extend for 5.3 miles to a site in the Lincolnway Rail and Air Park.
The project is expected to create 50 new jobs.
So far, nothing else is known about Wabash Cannonball, except for contact information for a person in Houston, Texas. Development officials in Clinton are not allowed yet to release the name of the company intending to build the new plant.
