A recent set photo of Elizabeth Debicki and Dominic West revealed that the highly-anticipated fifth season of The Crown will feature Prince Charles and Princess Diana's 1991 trip to Italy. That year, the royal couple went on a boat trip with their sons, Princes William and Harry, just months before calling off their marriage.

During the trip, Diana was unhappy in her marriage, having already spoken about her difficulties with biographer Andrew Morton. Despite the crumbling marriage, the family came together on Charles's Alexandra yacht. Debicki and West are portraying the couple this season, filming on the Christina O yacht in Palma de Mallorca. The Christina O, while not an actual royal family yacht, has its own rich history—it was once owned by Jackie Kennedy and Aristotle Onassis.

Timothee Sambor, age 11, and Teddy Hawley, age 7, were also spotted on the boat, playing Prince William and Prince Harry. The young actors were wearing matching white polo shirts and jeans. As for Charles and Diana's outfits, the wardrobe inspiration appears to come from the couple's 1992 trip to Seville, where Diana wore a dress by designer Bellville Sassoon.

In season five, Debicki and West are taking over the Diana and Charles roles from Josh O'Connor and Emma Corrin. Given the structure of the show, creator Peter Morgan recasts the series to reflect the aging characters. Also this season, Imelda Staunton will take over from Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip will be played by Jonathan Pryce, and Princess Margaret will be played by Leslie Manville. The new season is set to premiere in November 2022.
