LSU Morning Rush: Former Tigers commit has a Texas visit lined up

According to our colleagues at Longhorns Wire, former 2022 five-star safety commit Jacoby Mathews will be in Austin for this weekend’s game. Texas will play undefeated Oklahoma State. The Tigers are hoping they can bring Mathews back, but they have real competition in Texas.

Even with the Oklahoma loss, one of the most important weekends in the program’s recent history is in front of Texas. From the potential to take down undefeated No. 12 Oklahoma State to a huge recruiting weekend, Steve Sarkisian needs to pull out all the stops.

You can add another big name expected to be in Austin this weekend in five-star safety Jacoby Matthews. He tweeted he would be making the trip on Monday afternoon. In what should be an official visit, Texas will host Matthews on his first OV of the fall.

Mathews had plenty of Texas attention before he pledged to LSU. The Longhorns will have a chance to steal some of the thunder from the Tigers amid the chaos going on in Baton Rouge.

One of LSU’s top targets, Arch Manning, is also expected to be in Austin. Of late it seems the Tigers have lost momentum on that front.
