MACOMB — Week 8 is here and every area team in action this week still has a shot at postseason play.

Unfortunately for South Fulton, injuries have taken enough of a toll that the Rebels will not be able to play this week, forfeiting to Farmington.

The loss drops South Fulton to 3-5 with one game remaining.

For everyone else, games are on for the weekend and the playoffs remain a possibility.

First in action this weekend is West Prairie/Southeastern.

Due to an officiating shortage, the Cyclone game against Galva is moved up to Thursday and will kick at 6 p.m.

Despite last week’s loss and dropping to 2-5, the Cyclones still have a shot at the postseason.

If the playoffs started this week, WP/SE would be out, but only on the basis of tiebreakers.

This week, the Cyclones have a chance to jump ahead of several teams in front of them, hosting Galva.

Galva has yet to win this season (0-7) and has been outscored by its opponents 368-60.

Also in eight-man, Bushnell-Prairie City faces a major test.

The Spartans, who are currently in the postseason but still have work to do, host one of eight-man’s powerhouses, taking on Aquin on Saturday.

B-PC picked up a big win last week, improving to 4-3 with a victory over South Fork.

That win was even more important considering the Spartans host Aquin (5-2) on Saturday before closing the season at Pawnee (5-2) next week.

Aquin has outscored opponents 288-126.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 48-28 loss to Milledgeville a week ago.

In 11-man, Macomb looks to pick up its fifth win of the season and become playoff eligible, taking on Havana.

Last week the Bombers snapped a two-game losing streak, topping Lewistown 44-0.

Havana comes in at 1-6.

After topping Lewistown in Week 1, the Ducks have fallen on hard times, losing six straight, getting outscored 196-44 in the last six games.

Last week, a forfeit win over South Fulton officially made Rushville-Industry a playoff team.

The win improved the Rocket record to 6-1.

It has been two weeks since R-I last played, falling state-ranked and unbeaten Farmington 51-12 in Week 6.

R-I has an outside shot at the Prairieland title, but will need a Farmington loss along with a win in Week 9.

Other than that, it is all about locking up a stronger seed for the postseason for the Rockets.

Rushville-Industry is at home this week, playing its non-conference, Lincoln Trail crossover game.

R-I hosts United on Friday at 7 p.m.

The Red Storm come in at 4-3, having won three straight after starting the season 1-3.

Monmouth United has outscored foes 228-212.
