Fans who are going and were hoping to see team captain Sidney Crosby will likely be disappointed.

Penguins President of Hockey Operations, Brian Burke, told the Fan Morning Show that while Crosby will be back soon, it most likely won’t be in time for the home opener.

“Right now, I think he’s several days away for sure, I think he’s at least a week away for sure, but that could change tomorrow so I think giving precise timelines is really dangerous and really not helpful so when the doctor says he can play and Sid says he can play, then he plays,” said Burke.

Crosby had surgery on his left wrist at the beginning of September and missed training camp.

He’s on the road with the team on their trip to Florida before the team comes north for Saturday night’s game.
