Mayo Clinic Children’s Center weighs in on trick-or-treating this year

Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – With another Halloween during the pandemic less than three weeks away the Mayo Clinic Children’s Center weighs in on what trick or treating should look like this year.

Doctors say since we know more about COVID-19 compared to last year, fall festivities can be less strict.

They do, however, continue to recommend masking up.

Where you celebrate the holiday is also important.

“I think in terms of thinking of general principles and activities that have a lower risk for Halloween, we would say if it’s outdoors, definitely we would be a lower risk situation than having indoor parties or activities where you have crowds of people,” said Nipunie Rajapakse, Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist.

Health experts say if you’re older than 12, you should be fully vaccinated before participating in any Halloween festivities.
