The MLB playoffs continue and a new team is born in Seattle.

Good morning folks! The MLB playoffs are getting interesting now as the ALCS and NLCS fields are both nearly set. Let’s get you all of that and the rest of today’s baseball news.

In playoff news...

  • The Houston Astros blew the doors off the White Sox in a 10-1 victory, allowing them to advance to the ALCS where they will face off against the Red Sox.
  • Freddie Freeman’s late-game homer sealed a 5-4 Atlanta win over Milwaukee, pushing them to the NLCS.
  • The Dodgers forced a Game 5 with the Giants thanks to a 7-2 win last night. The two will match up In San Francisco tomorrow.

In Mariners news...

  • Mariners reliever Sean Doolittle got the chance to see an MLB playoff game as a fan yesterday.

Around the league...

  • I’d love to see them explore more opportunities like this going forward.
  • Rob Arthur at Baseball Prospectus believes that sticky stuff is back in baseball.
  • The qualifying offer will be worth less this year than it has been in years past.
  • Atlanta will have to wait and see if Jorge Soler is available for the NLCS this weekend. In the meantime, Guillermo Heredia is most likely to fill in for the outfielder.
