A Lincoln apartment building sustained $300,000 in damage following a fire Tuesday afternoon.
According to Lincoln Fire and Rescue (LFR), crews responded at 1:10 p.m. to a fire at 1020 Washington Street. Upon arrival, crews observed heavy fire from a second-story bedroom window of a two-story 12-plex apartment building.
Due to the size of the complex, the fire was made a second alarm. Fire crews were able to access and extinguish the fire shortly after arrival. Fire had made its way into the living room area and up into the attic of the fire apartment.
All residents had evacuated when LFR arrived. Smoke detectors were audible in the building. No injuries were reported.
Inspector Brad Hasenjaeger reports the fire cause is electrical resulting in $300,000 in fire damage to the apartment of origin with water and smoke damage to apartments below.
