Walk-the-Waush challenge winners announced

The Waushara County Health Department appreciates all those who participated in the 2021 Walk-the-Waush Challenge.  A total of 2,452.64 miles were logged during the challenge, which ran from May 31st through September 6th.  Winners of each hiking category and prizes are as follows: 

 

Overall Mileage Winner: Michael Spakowicz (235.01 total miles) - engraved plaque donated by the Waushara County Health Department, an Ice Age Trail print donated by Kathy Kehl, and a $50.00 donation to a charity of choice sponsored by the Waushara County Chapter of the Ice Age Trail Alliance.

Navigator (100+ miles): Amy Buckholt- Granite Gear Daypack donated by Kathy Addis and an Ice Age Trail Alliance bandana donated by the Waushara County Chapter of the Ice Age Trail Alliance.

Adventurer (75+ miles): Terri Dopp Paukstat - Ice Age Trail Guidebook and Atlas donated by the Ice Age Trail Alliance and a trekking pole donated by the Waushara County Health Department.

Backpacker (50+ miles): Craig Zimmer- 2022 WI State Parks vehicle admission sticker and 2022 State Parks pass and medical kit donated by the Waushara County Health Department.

Explorer (25+ miles): Josh Gruber- $50.00 gift card to Cabela’s donated by the Waushara County Health Department.

Hiker (10+ miles): Candace McElroy- set of headlamps donated by the Waushara County Health Department.

Walk-the-Waush is a free, annual hiking challenge sponsored by the Waushara County Health Department, Waushara County Parks Department, and Waushara County Chapter of the Ice Age Trail Alliance.

The mission of Walk-the-Waush is to encourage physical activity while promoting the trails in Waushara County.  If you are interested in joining in on the fun next year, please keep an eye out for flyers and information about registration coming in early 2022.
