HAMILTON OPENS TONIGHT AT THE MARCUS PERFORMING ARTS CENR.TE NNHAAH HILYARD IS LIVE THERE THIS MORNING. HANNAH, IT’S BEEN MORE THAN 18 MONTHS SINCE THE LAST SHOW? NN:AHHA RIGHT. THE LAST SHOW CLOSED ON MARCH 1, 2020. WE CAN ALL REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED JUST A FEW SHORT WEEKS AFTER THAT. BUT TODAY BROADWAY IS BACK. THESE DOORS ARE GOING TO OPEN ONCE AGAIN, STARTING WITH HAMILTON. THE SHOW OPENS TODAY, AND WILL BE IN MILWAUKEE THROUGH OCTOBER 24. THE THEATER HAS HAD A FEW SMALLER SHOWS ALREADY THIS MONTH, BUT HAMILTON WILL BE THE FIRST BIG AND AFTER LOSING UP TO ONE. 80% OF ITS REVENUE THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF, THE MARCUS CENTER’S PRESIDENT AND CEO SAYS THEY’RE READY TO GO. SOME SAFETY COVID PROTOCOLS TO KEEP IN MIND. YOU WILL HAVE TO PROVIDE POFRO OF VACCINATION OR A NEGATIVE COVID TEST. YOU CAN START SHOWING THAT THREE HOURS PRIOR TO EACH PERFORMANCE AND GET A WRISTBAND TO RETURN CLOSER TO THE SHOW. AND YOU’LL NEED A MASK. >> CERTAINLY FOR SHOW NIGHT, YOU’RE GOING TO WANT TO HAVE YOUR MASK ON THE ENTIRE TIME UNLESS YOU’RE ACTIVELY EATING OR DRINKING. For the first time in more than 18 months, Broadway returns to Milwaukee.It's been nearly two years since the coronavirus pandemic forced theaters to shut down here and across the country."Hamilton" opens Wednesday night at the Marcus Performing Arts Center.The theater reopens with some COVID-19 safety precautions to keep in mind. All patrons must show proof of vaccination or a recent negative COVID-19 test up to three hours prior to curtain. Each guest will get a wristband to return closer to showtime.Masks are also required the whole time unless you are eating or drinking.The Marcus Center closed after its last show "The Lion King" on March 1, 2020. Since then, the president and CEO, Kendra Whitlock Ingram, says the theater lost up to 80% of its revenue.Whitlock says she expects the theater to be at full capacity most nights throughout the run of their first show back."Hamilton" runs through Oct. 24.Limited tickets are still available.
