A 47-year-old pedestrian died after she was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash in Maryland.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 7 in the 6500 block of Ager Road near 19th Place in the unincorporated part of Hyattsville.

Prince George’s County police said an initial investigation found that a dark-colored, four-door sedan was headed east on Ager Road when it struck Constance Asanansi, of Hyattsville. The driver did not stay on the scene, police said.

Authorities said it appeared Asanansi was trying to cross the road and was not in a crosswalk at the time of the incident.

She was taken to a hospital, where she died on Oct. 11.
